REFERENCE-BASED MATCHING

Fragrance matching from your reference scent.

We develop fragrance from your reference scent, compare named samples with your priorities and establish an approved version for manufacture at our Guangzhou factory.

What makes a useful reference

We develop fragrance from a lawfully obtained sample or a clearly described scent reference. Our team first identifies the product, carrier, sample age and storage condition, then records which qualities you want to retain or change. This gives the matching work a usable target before formulation begins.

Describe the intended new product as well as the reference. A reference taken from an alcohol perfume and a target oil-based perfume have different carriers, so the development brief needs to explain the experience you want to preserve. Include your destination market, audience, quantity and packaging direction.

Define the matching target

Break the target into an opening impression, central character and finish, then identify the priorities. You might want the same fresh-to-woody progression while reducing sweetness, or a familiar floral direction with a quieter dry-down. Specify whether scent character, strength, diffusion or application feel matters most.

Matching is a development and evaluation process; complete identity with a reference is not guaranteed. A reference also does not create an affiliation with its original brand or permission to copy its name, trademark or packaging. The project should use your own brand presentation and a clearly agreed scent objective.

From reference to feedback

  1. Share the reference description and the product brief before arranging a physical sample.
  2. Agree the development target, sample scope, fees, revisions and sending arrangements.
  3. Evaluate the development sample and reference under comparable conditions.
  4. Consolidate feedback into specific qualities to keep, change or reduce.
  5. Review the revised version and record the approved production reference.

Compare like with like: the same carrier and application where possible, the same evaluation surface and similar application amount. Record an observation as an observation rather than assuming that a strength difference is caused by concentration alone. Use the sample evaluation record for structured feedback. Timing and sample charges are confirmed for the project.

Approve the version to manufacture

The approval should identify the sample version, target application, carrier, concentration direction where applicable, and the feedback accepted. Keep the approved sample and written reference aligned. A later request to change the base, scent strength or packaging should be reviewed as a specification change.

Scent approval is one part of the finished product. The final dispensing system, container and other packaging still need their own compatibility and approval discussion. Sampling explains how development moves towards production without treating the first preferred sample as a complete manufacturing instruction.

For manufacture, we connect the accepted matching sample with the carrier, fill and component versions, then use that reference in the quality discussion. Batch records and retained samples keep later production or reorder questions attached to the approved product rather than to an informal scent name.

Send the reference details first

Include the reference product or a non-confidential description, what to retain, what to change, your intended product and carrier, target market and estimated quantity. For a physical reference, we confirm the receiving details and handling arrangements with you before shipment. We keep your project information confidential and use your comparison notes to organise each revision.

Discuss a matching project with these details. If the idea is a broader brand mood rather than a particular reference, custom fragrance development may be the better route. If you are open to selecting an existing direction, explore the fragrance library.

Inspired-by and clone perfume enquiries

If you use inspired-by or clone to describe a development request, identify the scent facets to retain, change or avoid and the lawful reference you can provide. The project develops your own branded specification; it does not supply counterfeit branded bottles or imply another brand’s permission. Compare opening, heart and dry-down through named samples rather than an identical-match promise. Request a focused sample selection.
