These note combinations are creative briefing examples, not stock formulas or ingredient lists. Select one to start a sample discussion.

What the formula library offers

We shortlist from 2,000+ fragrance formula resources around your product, audience and preferred scent character. Our team helps you compare directions in the intended carrier, record feedback and select a sample reference for your branded range.

We record the selected direction, application and sample version before approval. When you extend the direction to a different base, we review that application separately. Formula use and any exclusivity are agreed with the development scope.

Describe the scent direction you want

Direction to discuss Useful words for your request Clarify the balance
Fresh or citrus Bright, sparkling, crisp, airy Sharp versus soft; juicy versus dry
Floral Petal-like, green, powdery, full-bodied Light transparency versus a richer floral impression
Woody Dry, warm, smooth, textured Clean woods versus smoky or resinous facets
Amber or warm-spiced Enveloping, resinous, spicy, rounded Sweetness, spice intensity and weight
Gourmand Creamy, toasted, edible-inspired Restrained sweetness versus a dessert-like character

Use these scent families to guide our shortlist. You can also start with a mood: a clean morning ritual, an intimate evening scent or a vivid seasonal launch. Mention qualities you dislike as well as those you want.

Match the direction to the product

A fresh direction for perfume, shampoo and a home fragrance can share a family resemblance while behaving differently in each base. Tell us the carrier, use conditions and scent role: a signature perfume, a lighter body application, a wash-off product or a room experience.

Application suitability is confirmed through formula discussion and samples. For perfume formats, identify the preferred base and concentration direction. For fragrance formats or personal care, include the format, texture or dispensing requirements rather than assuming a perfume formula can be transferred unchanged.

Select, sample and refine

First describe your priorities and the product. Then discuss a focused selection of directions, agree sample scope and evaluate the actual samples. Record the version, conditions and reasons for the preference; “less powdery and more airy than the preferred sample” can guide a useful refinement.

If the direction is close but needs adjustment, define that request before confirming a production reference. A reference-led objective can move to matching; a distinct new concept can become bespoke development. Sample fees, revisions, arrangements and timing are project-specific. See how sampling works.

Our selection discussion can cover a full-size perfume, body mist and a discovery or gift presentation together. State the leading product, preferred bottle or applicator and how you want the scents to be compared. The sample offer identifies the actual samples and versions being prepared, so later feedback and reorders refer to the same selection.

Request a scent selection

Send the product category and intended base, target customer and market, scent families or references, emotional direction, unwanted qualities and estimated quantity. If you have several products, say which product will be the main scent reference and which adaptations need evaluation.

The fragrance brief template helps turn preferences into a useful selection request. Request samples or scent selection with your current decisions; exact terminology is helpful, but a clear description of the experience is enough to start the discussion.

Quantity planning and sample kits

Use the quantity and budget calculator to check your bottle plan, then configure a sample kit to compare scents and packaging.
