BUYER RESOURCES

Turn a perfume brand idea into a production brief.

Start a perfume brand by defining the customer, product, scent route, quantity and packaging, then use samples and agreed specifications to choose the next production step.

Before choosing a supplier, compare OEM, ODM and private label perfume models. Then use the manufacturer selection checklist, check minimum order quantities and plan the scope that fits your brand launch.

Define the audience and fragrance experience

Start a perfume brand brief with the person who will use the product, the market where you intend to sell and the occasion it should fit. Add the intended retail position and scent experience. These decisions help the manufacturer understand why a product needs a particular format, pack or fragrance direction.

You can use ordinary descriptions. “A composed woody scent for an everyday work routine” gives a customer, occasion and emotional direction without requiring a complete note pyramid. Emotional fragrance positioning is a brand and sensory concept, not evidence of a therapeutic effect. Record a few wanted characteristics and a few things to avoid so the brief has useful boundaries.

Choose the product and cooperation route

Choose the first product specification within your intended range: alcohol-based perfume, alcohol-free perfume and oil-based perfume are separate directions. If the range includes fragrance or scented personal care, list those products with their own application requirements in the product range.

Then match the scent route to the inputs you have:

Starting point Useful route What to bring
A desired scent direction Existing fragrance selection Audience, application and preferences for shortlisting
A lawful reference sample Fragrance matching Reference, features to retain and changes you want
An original brand concept Custom fragrance development Customer, emotional direction, application and constraints

Private label and OEM/ODM describe the cooperation conversation. Agree who supplies the formula inputs, sources packaging, fills and approves the product; the term alone does not define all those duties.

Build a realistic quantity and cost brief

Fravanta’s usual perfume minimum is 30 kg of liquid per scent. It does not promise a fixed number of bottles, and it is not a total that automatically combines several scents. Net fill, density and filling loss affect the finished count. Packaging and decoration minimums are separate; other product categories have their own project quantities.

Build the budget in parts: development and samples, finished liquid, components and decoration, filling and assembly, requested documents and delivery. State which parts are fixed and which can be adjusted. The cost guide helps prepare comparable inputs without relying on a universal startup budget or income forecast.

Evaluate samples and packaging before approval

Arrange sampling around the agreed brief and evaluation method. Record the sample version, carrier and concentration where known, the reference, conditions and specific feedback. Use the sample evaluation record to separate features to retain from the changes needed.

Prepare the pack in parallel: target fill, bottle and interface, dispenser, seal, decoration, label and outer box. Keep the physical component version and artwork version identifiable. A liked scent is not full pack approval, and an attractive pack is not evidence of compatibility. Agree what checks and market information remain necessary for the actual project.

Confirm responsibilities before production

Use this sequence to turn development into a production decision:

  1. Confirm the product, market, scent route and scope in a written brief.
  2. Agree sampling, revision terms and the intended formula rights.
  3. Identify the accepted product sample and any remaining conditions.
  4. Confirm the physical pack, artwork, quantities and component sourcing.
  5. Agree requested checks and documents, buyer market responsibilities and delivery handover.
  6. Review the quotation and production specification together before confirming the order.

Fravanta is a Guangzhou, China perfume and fragrance manufacturer supporting overseas business buyers. Start a project discussion with the brief you have, and mark open choices clearly. Sample costs and delivery timing are confirmed against the actual project rather than assumed from a general brand-launch plan.

Match the launch brief to your sales channel

For a TikTok or creator launch, align the hero scent, camera-visible packaging, sample feedback and launch window. For Amazon, add the destination marketplace’s dangerous-goods review, barcode, carton and fulfilment requirements to the brief; factory manufacture does not approve an FBA listing. For a salon, boutique or hotel signature, define the retail perfume separately from room scenting and record which product is the main scent reference. Build a sample selection.
